Take The Cap Off

How can you reach your fullest potential? You must know how to take the cap off that limits you. To do this, you must first discover what your strengths and limitations are. You must be aware of your God given gifts, talents, energy, creativity and leadership. Be aware of your weakness that you need work on or avoid.
Second, to develop your strengths you must grow what you are strong in. Awareness is of utmost importance because “you cannot grow what you do not know.” Develop and grow your strengths after you discover them. In management we say “develop your strengths and delegate your weaknesses.” In this way you develop effectiveness in what you do as you develop your capacity and the capabilities of others around you.
One day, I worked with my son to place a window tint in his room to lessen the direct heat from the afternoon sun from coming into his room. I made him do half of the work as we worked together. I told him that it’s not only keeping the heat out and make him comfortable, but also for him to develop skills in window tinting.
A few weeks ago, I taught him how to use a chainsaw…Praise God nothing was missing.
Developing capacities is the work of a leader which not limited to a classroom, but can take place in any room
where improvement can be done.
Lastly, be intentional about the choices that you make in choosing the right character and attitude when you
deploy your capacities and abilities. Things are judged not only by what is done, but how it’s done. That’s why
the fruit of the Holy Spirit is important as we express the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
In Paul Chappell’s book about the Holy Spirit, he briefly summarized that the work of the Holy Spirit in us must
be Discovered, Developed and then Deployed. Live a life of no limits. Take the cap off. Reach your fullest potential.
Discover your gifts, talents, skill, capacities, strengths and weaknesses. Develop them vigorously despite odds and then deploy them with intentionality to help others.

Lord, help me to reach my fullest potential in giving glory to your name. Turn my eyes from things that will waste my time and growth. Help me to choose the right attitudes with intentionality to do your will. Help me to be strong in admitting my mistakes and in humble awareness of my strengths…Amen.
